Are you new to dabbing or are you curious about what the differences are between high temp and low temp dabs? With more innovative products entering the market, dabbing is quickly catching up with smoking as the go-to method of cannabis consumption. For those who are new at this, dabbing is the process of consuming cannabis concentrates or extracts commonly known as dabs.
Let’s take a look at the differences between high temp and low temp dabs.
High Temp Dabs
A dab consumed at a temperature above 390–400 °F is considered to be a high temp dab. One of the benefits of high temp dabs is that you can be sure that all cannabinoids within the cannabis concentrates will reach their boiling points. Dabbing at this high of a temp, however, is not required to obtain the benefits of most cannabinoids. For example, THC does not activate until it reaches 315 °F and CBD has a boiling point of 320–356 °F.
High temp dabs also tend to offer a much more intense effect at a faster rate than low temp dabs. On the flip side, dabbing at high temperatures has some downfalls. For instance, once plant-based oils reach 392 °F, harmful compounds such as Benzene and Naphthalene are at risk of being produced and potentially consumed. Many of the plant’s natural terpenes are also at risk of being eliminated at these temperatures
Low Temp Dabs
Dabbing at temperatures around or lower than 300 °F is considered to be low temp dabbing. Dabbing at such low temps allows for many different benefits. For one, most terpenes do not burn off until around 300°F meaning that when dabbing at lower temps, you will get a more flavorful dab and can reap the benefits that terpenes also offer.
While low temp dabs may provide a less intense effect, these effects are more prolonged compared to high temp dabs. Many believe this is because of the entourage effect from consuming not just cannabinoids but also terpenes which can be eliminated at higher temps. Low temp dabs also ensure that no harmful compounds are produced during your dabbing experience.
Now that you know more about high temp and low temp dabs, we hope that your next, or possibly even first dabbing experience is an elevated one! Are you a seasoned dabber? If so, let us know if you’re a high temp or low temp dabber below.
